Vicky Kaushal’s acclaimed historical drama Chhaava is set to make its digital debut on Netflix, with streaming scheduled to begin on April 11, the platform announced on Thursday.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, Chhaava explores the life and valor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film, which hit theatres on February 14, received critical acclaim and performed exceptionally well at the box office.

Netflix shared the premiere date with a striking poster and captioned it, “Aale Raje aale. Witness a tale of courage and glory etched in time. Watch Chhaava, out 11 April on Netflix.”

The film stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Viineet Kumar Siingh, and Ashutosh Rana alongside Kaushal, who plays the titular role with intensity and conviction. Chhaava has now emerged as Kaushal’s highest-grossing film, surpassing blockbusters like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, and Sam Bahadur.

Further highlighting its cultural significance, Chhaava was recently mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi. He acknowledged the film’s impact, saying, “Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai,” and credited author Shivaji Sawant’s novel Chhava for bringing Sambhaji Maharaj’s story to the forefront.

Vicky Kaushal responded to the Prime Minister’s praise on Instagram, writing, “Honoured beyond words! Grateful to Hon. PM Narendra Modi Ji. #Chhaava.”

With its compelling storytelling, powerful performances, and national recognition, Chhaava is poised to reach a wider audience through its OTT release.
